Introducing Our 2017 Inaugural Lineup!

Willow Creek Estate is super psyched to have released our first wine lineup. This grouping has been eagerly awaited at the Estate, and by our friends. These new wines represent a sophisticated cross-section of mostly Rhone, entirely French wines. In this release we have two blended wines, and five wines presented in all their glory as 100% pure varietals. We are very excited to share these with you.

2014 Reserve Grenache

Often blended with other varietals, like in our Grenache Noir-Syrah-Mourvedre, we are presenting it here as a 100% Grenache Noir. Ruby colored, look for strawberry, red and black cherry, dark plums, raspberry, boysenberry and cinnamon. Its medium tannin quality makes it a joy to sip, even on warmer days. Pair with roasted meats, as well as many ethic or spicy food. The fruit used for this wine were grown on the Pipestone Vineyard using sustainable and organic techniques.

2014 Willow Creek Reserve Zinfandel

Zinfandel is the California classic. Although it really is an eastern European varietal, it’s easy to see why Californians call Zin their own. It was a primary source of wine for the Catholic missionaries, and was quickly planted all over California. Look for jam, blueberry, black pepper, cherry, plum, boysenberry, cranberry, and licorice. The taste explodes with candied fruitiness followed by spice and often a tobacco-like smoky finish. This is a lighter bodied wine with bold tannins. Pair with spiced BBQ, or lighter meats like quail, turkey, pork or veal. For vegetarians, think of roasted tomatoes, red peppers and caramelized onions.

2014 Reserve Mourvedre

Mourvedre is often thought of a blending grape, often being added with Syrah and Grenache. We’re presenting it on its own — 100% Mourvedre. It has great gaminess and complexity. If you like Cabernet Sauvignon, this may be a good choice for you. Not as “refined” as Cab, but presenting with similar characteristics. Look for blueberry, blackberry, plum and black pepper. This wine will age very nicely and mellow as it gets older. Great with BBQ. Pair with short ribs, pork shoulder or veal. Vegetarians will want to pair with soy sauce dishes, or shitake or portabello mushrooms. The fruit used for this wine were grown on the Pipestone Vineyard using sustainable and organic techniques.
